Presented at Canadian Mineral Analysts Conference, 2024
At the Canadian Mineral Analysts (CMA) 2024 conference in Kamloops, BC, I utilized my presentation on “Determination of Trace Metals in Bee Pollen by ICP-MS” as part of a giveback project aimed at raising awareness of the environmental pollutants associated with the mining industry. By analyzing bee pollen for trace metals, my research sheds light on the unintended consequences of mining activities on local ecosystems, particularly on pollinator health. The project was designed to encourage a dialogue within the mining community about the importance of considering environmental impacts and fostering more sustainable practices to protect vulnerable species like bees. Through this initiative, I aimed to promote a collaborative effort towards minimizing environmental harm and supporting the health of ecosystems impacted by industrial operations.
